Ísfélagið strives to contribute to and support the development in its local communities through various forms of assistance for good causes. By doing so, the company aims to promote increased well-being among its employees, the community, customers, and other stakeholders. Ísfélagið places emphasis on supporting sports and youth matters, as well as search and rescue and health-related issues.
YOUTH AFFAIRS
The company has a policy of supporting youth affairs in its local communities. The company provides support to various projects such as FabLab, innovation initiatives, Lúðrasveit Vestmannaeyja, and more.
Search and rescue
Employees of Ísfélagið rely on the right response to accidents or serious illnesses on board the company's vessels. Search and rescue teams and their support are therefore of paramount importance. Ísfélagið supports the Vestmannaeyja Search and Rescue Team and the Hafliði Search and Rescue Team in Þórshöfn.
Sports
Active sports activities are a prerequisite for ensuring children and young people have a positive and good upbringing and contribute to the community as a whole. The company supports sports activities such as ÍBV and the Youth Club of Langanesbyggð. The company has also supported the Chess Department of ÍBV, the Table Tennis Club Vestmannaeyja, the Vestmannaeyja Golf Club, the Powerlifting Club ÍBV, and more. The company has also supported accomplished athletes.
COMMUNITY AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS
Ísfélagið has participated in many small and large community and cultural projects in its local communities. These include Happy days in Þórshöfn, a children's program at the Goslokahátíð festival in Vestmannaeyjar, the MATEY fisheries festival, and Ísfélagið has also made a statue of Ási í Bæ, one of the most beloved songwriters and poets of Vestmannaeyjar.
