MACKEREL

Mackerel is a fast-swimming pelagic fish found in the North Atlantic Ocean. The mackerel fishing season begins in spring when the fish gather in shoals and move closer to the coast for spawning and feeding, typically in areas where the sea temperature is between 11-14°C. In search of food, mackerel migrates in the northern direction, past the Norwegian Sea, north of Norway, and in recent years, toward Iceland. However, mackerel migrations have undergone significant changes in recent years, and altered migration patterns are believed to be caused by warming sea temperatures.
