Vestmannaeyjar

In Vestmannaeyjar, there is a well-equipped fish processing factory specializing in the production of pelagic products. Between pelagic seasons, both fresh and frozen fish products are processed in the factory. The number of employees varies depending on the season, but on average, there are about 60 employees in the factory. The factory is located at the intersection of Garðavegur and Strandvegur.

At the other end of Strandvegur, the company operates a robust fishmeal factory where fishmeal and fish oil are produced from capelin, herring, mackerel, and blue whiting. The production capacity of the factory is 1,200 tons of raw material per 24 hours.

Between the fish factory and the fishmeal factory, pipelines were laid in 2013. These pipelines transport capelin roe directly from the roe processing facility at the fishmeal factory to the fish factory for packaging after drying. Additionally, heads and offal from the freezer facility are pumped back to the fishmeal factory through separate pipelines, where the raw material is used for the production of fishmeal and fishoil.

In 2013, the fishmeal factory introduced one of the most efficient purification systems in fish processing in Iceland. In this system, all bloodwater is purified, and then fish oil and fishmeal are produced from it. This system handles all wastewater from both the company's freezer facility and the fishmeal factory.

Þórshöfn

In Þórshöfn, a robust fish processing factory is operated where both pelagic fish and groundfish are processed. The company's groundfish processing in Þórshöfn is primarily focused on cod and haddock, and there is also a robust processing operation for herring and mackerel in the factory From there, it is often a short distance to the pelagic fishing grounds, and during the herring season, the fish passes by Langanes on their way to spawning making Þórshöfn well-positioned for herring fishing at the beginning of the season. There has been significant development and improvement in processing equipment in recent years, resulting in high-quality products that meet customer demands for processing, quality, and packaging. The freezer facility in Þórshöfn employs about 70 employees.

In Þórshöfn, the company also operates a highly productive fishmeal factory, producing meal and oil from capelin, herring, and mackerel. The production capacity of the factory is about 900 tons per 24 hours. The fishmeal factory employs about 20 employees.

siglufjörður

In the harbor area of Siglufjörður, there is a recently operated shrimp processing plant that produces cooked and peeled cold-water shrimp. Part of its raw material consists of fresh shrimp landed in Siglufjörður, while another part is purchased frozen from Norwegian and Canadian vessels. The plant places great emphasis on product quality and cleanliness, meeting the quality standards of many major retail chains in the UK and holding BRC approval. The good registration system ensures traceability from fishing to processing. The main markets for cold-water shrimp are in Britain and mainland Europe. All shrimp shells generated during production are pumped directly to the biotechnology company Primex hf., which is a subsidiary of Ísfélagið, a company that produces active chitosan extracts from shrimp shells in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. There are 20 jobs associated with the shrimp processing plant, and Primex also employs 20 people.

þorlákshöfn

In Þorlákshöfn, there is a groundfish processing plant where various species like cod, saithe, haddock, and carp are processed. The primary products include fresh or lightly salted and frozen loins, pieces, and whole fillets, either fresh or frozen with light salting. The largest markets for the production are on mainland Europe. Previously, there was significant lobster processing in the facility, but with a decline in lobster fishing, the processing lines have been renewed, and the fish processing is now well-equipped. The plant places strong emphasis on product quality, and it has BRC approval. A robust tracking system ensures traceability from fishing to processing. The fish processing plant in Þorlákshöfn employs about 33 employees.
